Dear Wilpons,
If there's one thing that fans need to know, it's that the people running our beloved Mets CARE about us, the fans. We need to know that the past three seasons have caused you the same gut-wrenching pain that it's caused us. The way to do that is to go out there and get the best free agent bat on the market. We need Matt Holliday.
Obviously the guy's numbers speak for themselves, but it's more than that. Signing Matt Holliday will show us that the number one priority is winning, and it's winning NOW. Put all of that crap about Madoff and the economy aside and show the fans that you care. We all know that there's a number of reasons to NOT sign him, but from the fans' point of view those are all overshadowed by the reality that signing him will show us that you care as much about this team as we do. If signing Matt Holliday is the only thing you do this off-season, at least it gives us a lineup to look forward to that has Reyes, Wright, Beltran, Francoeur, and Holliday sprinkled throughout.
